Leaves aren’t the only thing hanging down on this cool but slightly muggy August night, so are the black walnuts.
In a couple weeks Alvin, Simon and Theodore will start and carry them off to their winter pantry. The more they store at ground level, the milder the winter. If you find very few on the ground well then fill your pantry because it’s going to be a long winter.
They store their food where it is easy to get during the winter.

This is my first attempt to get a full moon shot using my camera in manual focus mode, as auto focus mode died earlier this year. Tonights shot is the best one I took. It is only appropriate that the moon be golden in my picture as it was 15 years ago today Rommie, my golden retriever, was born and it was 2 years ago 7/31 that she moved to heaven.
