Black Gold: Day 6 of 31 Hot August OhioNights

Leaves aren’t the only thing hanging down on this cool but slightly muggy August night, so are the black walnuts.

In a couple weeks Alvin,  Simon and Theodore will start and carry them off to their winter pantry. The more they store at ground level, the milder the winter. If you find very few on the ground well then fill your pantry because it’s going to be a long winter.

They store their food where it is easy to get during the winter.
