I climbed President William McKinley’s Monument the other day. Green was the predominant color every where I looked. The only autumn color was found in the clothing of the fitness buffs walking up and down the 108 steps.

I was at Princess Ledges Park the other day and while I was scoping out the trees for the lone bird singing, I spotted this leaf in the shape of a sideways heart. It was barely holding on and I suppose by now it has let go and floated down to the ground.

This is just a teeny tiny pile of black walnuts that the squirrels and chippies have dropped from the tree that overhangs my fence. I probably have to pitch a couple hundred into the woods before I mow.
